A Steve Crook goal, seconds before the interval settled this tight, evenly contested cup-tie. Chalfont started brightly and put the visitors defence under pressure. Although the home side were neat in their approach work, they lacked a cutting edge in front of goal. The visitors gained confidence and gradually began to gain more possession and to pose a threat. Wasps scored the decisive goal on 45 minutes a long clearance was knocked on by Ray Fraser and Steve Crook timed his run to perfection and struck the ball over the keeper and into the net.
Half Time: 1-0
The away side started the second half confidently and Matt Beattie, in the Wasps goal, had to be alert on a couple of occasions. Chalfont weathered this spell of pressure and created a number of chances to put the match beyond Bakers reach. Crook hit the crossbar and a few minutes later volleyed narrowly wide. The match had a nail biting finish but it was Chalfont who progress to the 2nd round where they will visit Premier Division side Bishops Cleeve.
