Improved Vale earn share of points.

A much improved Pewsey Vale earned a share of the points in their Premier Division match at the Recreation Ground with Brackley Town. Pewsey had 70 percent of the play in the first half and could have gone into the break in the lead. Vale striker Barry Flippance had two good chances one shooting over the bar and one saved by goalkeeper Alan Adams. Brackley had a good chance in the final minutes of the half but Anthony Betterton the Vale keeper denied Andy Baird turning his shot away for a corner.

Half Time: 0-0

Pewsey started the second half with striker Paul Day coming off the bench for the injured Shaun Terry and they soon lost Adam Wainwright injured yet again bringing on Adam Stephens. After twisting and turning the Pewsey defence Brackley?s Neil King gave keeper Betterton no problem with his final ball going over the bar. On the hour a powerful 25-yard free kick by Steve Thomas was tipped over by the keeper. Pewsey took the lead in the 65th minute through Barry Flippance. A long free kick by midfielder Mark Jordon found Stephens who headed the ball back in but Ross Anderson headed against the bar, the ball fell to Flippance who put it past the keeper.

The Pewsey lead was short-lived when Vinnie Byfield put the visitors back on level terms. Brackley could have taken the points in the last minute of the match with the home keeper stranded on the edge of his goal area defender Martin Churchward cleared of the goal line.
