It was back into Premier Division action on a wet Tuesday evening at the recreation ground against top of the table North Leigh.
North Leigh proved to be a well organized team and showed from the start their intention to stay at the top through good teamwork. A well struck free kick from just outside the box by Gary Murphy brought Vale keeper Anthony Betterton into action to make a great save tipping over on 4 minutes. There was a bit of panic in the Pewsey goalmouth when the ball was going from side to side but the danger was cleared away. Good team work between Barry Flippance and Paul Day who had his powerful shot tipped away for a corner by keeper Kevin Alder. From the resulting corner kick Mark Jordan headed the ball back in Flippance turned to hit the back of the net on 23rd minute.
North Leigh was back level when defender Darren Cummings gave away a penalty for handball three minutes later and Sean Bott converted the spot kick. Bott was denied by a Betterton save in the 35th minute. The Pewsey defence was living a bit of a charmed life when they failed to stop and contain both Bott and Nick Hughes from attacking then from their midfield. Before the break Betterton made several good saves that denied North Leigh from taking a half time lead.

North Leigh continued to pressurise the Vale who brought on Ross Anderson for Day after 56 minutes. During a good spell for the Vale a pass from Flippance to Anderson resulted in the latter?s effort on goal being saved by Alder on the 68th minute. Harry Burnley put the visitors in the lead on 72minutes Betterton saved the first shot but with the Pewsey defence standing stagnant Burnley nipped in to score and within a minute Adam Hamp ran onto a good through ball to beat the off side trap and the keeper to put them into a winning lead.
Pewsey brought on Mark Stevens for Adam Wainwright on 77 minutes and he was soon in the action having a header saved by the keeper. With seven minutes to go Pewsey had Nathan Holt injured and brought on Russell Fishlock.
