Hounslow Borough FC  1    Letcombe FC  0

Hounslow, ravished by injuries and suspensions, went into this game desperate to halt a run of 4 successive defeats. Letcombe it has to be said were very disorganised and inexperienced, arriving with just one sub.

Hounslow went for the kill from the opening whistle, with Eichman and Hassan hassling the Letcombe defence without really penetrating. With new signing Chris Dolby marshalling the defence Hounslow were comfortable. The highlight of the half was a mazy run by full back Ben Payne which saw him go through the Letcombe defence like a knife through butter, only to send the keeper the wrong way then amazingly hit the ball straight at the keeper.

The second half started with top scorer Ian Jones ?rested? in the opening half replacing Ruben Eichman up front. Manager Mick Turtle took to the field replacing Duncan Holden, changing to a more attacking formation after five minutes, this seemed to confuse Letcombe who, had their chances but were unable to finish. Within minutes of coming on the ball was played over the Letcombe defence for Turtle to beat the keeper to the ball but the lob came back off the crossbar with Ian Jones unable to direct the rebound goal bound.

With Hounslow taking the game to their visitors it was only a matter of time before the breakthrough came, Paul Munro who had another excellent game in the middle of the field played the ball through to Mick Turtle, who had managed to escape the attention of his marker, who needed no encouragement to drive the ball in for his first goal for the club. With ten minutes remaining Artan was replaced by defensive minded Rodney as Hounslow looked to sit on the slender lead.

Manager Mick Turtle said after the game ?It was important today to get a result, although we could and should have scored more. I think the new lads Phillpott and Dolby gave us a lot more stability.

Next Saturday Borough face Mick?s former club Drayton Wanderers at the conquest club in a 3pm kick off
