Saturday, 21 September 2002

Chipping Norton Town went out of the F A Vase at the 2nd qualifying stage at sunny Minehead. Already missing several players, Town lost Seb Wilsker with a reoccurrence of his knee injury after 8 minutes.

Within 2 minutes Town were a goal down when Paul Watson headed home for the home side. Town got into the game and were rewarded for their pressure when Mark Odom scored after an excellent pass from Gary Wright after 35 minutes. Town should have been in front at the break but Matty Gorman?s shot was well saved by the home keeper.

Half Time: 1-1

Town started the second half the way they ended the first, by putting pressure on the home side. The impressive Gary Wright set up Mark Odom only for his header to hit the bar on 48 minutes. Town then introduced striker Robbie Wyatt for the last 25 minutes, but it was the home side that against the run of play scored through Watson.

Town continued to have the better of the game and the home keeper brilliantly saved Craig Dore?s shot. In injury time, Mark Odom?s shot clipped the bar but the home side wrapped the game up deep into injury time when Perkins scored.
