Teversal gave themselves an early Christmas present as they convincingly defeated local rivals North Notts on their own territory. This takes Teversal triumphantly into the Quarter Finals of the Central Midlands League Cup. A goal in each half from striker Steve Hutchinson and the third from Colin Cockerill did the damage on a pitch that lent more to mud wrestling than football.
Despite the poor conditions, both teams served up a treat for the 200 plus crowd with a display of commitment and a fair amount of good football. North Notts had the first chance on 7 minutes when Dean Short fired straight at Richard Parker from 20 yards.
Jon Flint responded for Teversal on 12 minutes with a 30 yarder that was deflected for a corner. From this Teversal took the lead, Cockerill's inswinging corner was met by Hutchinson who with a fine flick of the head guided the ball past Steve Brown.
Teversal continued to press up the slope taking the game to the home side without much success. The game developed into the typical local derby with both teams holding nothing back and Referee David Bird picking out the worst of the many unnecessary fouls to keep the game under control.
On 28 minutes, Teversal's appeals for a penalty were waved away by Bird, as Ryan Wall appeared to have blocked a shot by Cockerill with his arm.
Hutchinson was unlucky on 35 minutes when he met Jamie Hudson's cross with a spectacular volley from 12 yards, which dipped just over the bar.
A gilt edged chance for the home side on 42 minutes, Parker gave the ball away to Ritchie Walker who advanced into the box. Walker only had to hit the target from 12 yards, but failed miserably as his drive went wide of the far post. This was greeted with loud audible delight from the traveling Teversal fans. Walker nearly made amends a minute later as he raced onto a Short through ball to bring, a fine save from Parker with his 15 yard effort.

The second half started with a booking, Marrows rash challenge on Whetton down the right earning the defender a yellow card.
It then all went terribly wrong for North Notts, Hutchinson made it 2-0 by latching on to a through ball to calmly slot the ball past Brown from the edge of the box after 53 minutes.
A minute later 'The Antlers' misery was complete, Hutchinson turning provider for Cockerill to slide the ball past the advancing Brown.
Brown denied Hutchinson his hat trick on the hour when he superbly turned the strikers effort away from 12 yards.
The home side rallied and took the game to Teversal; Staziker a major influence in the North Notts midfield was beginning to find a little space. His run on 65 found Danny Stringfellow who fired wide from just outside the box. A minute later Kevin Gee had a goalbound effort turned away by Parker.
Marrows was lucky to stay on the pitch on 69 minutes when his two-footed challenge on Hudson went unpunished.
On 77 Teversal's man of the match, Hutchinson cheekily tried to lob Brown from the edge of the box, the keeper this time equal to it.
Substitute Thorpe bought a great save out of Parker on 82 minutes with a low drive from outside the box.
Stringfellow and Thorpe had opportunities to score on 85, but neither could find the target.
Brown was the busier of the two keepers in the final 5 minutes, firstly denying Shipley and then watching helplessly as Cockrill's 25-yard curler smashed against the bar.
