Bristol Division North

Bristol Athletic  9    DRG Stapleton  1

Sunday, 25 September 2011

It was a day to savour for new boys Bristol Athletic who prior to this match were lying 2nd in the table as they entertained DRG Stapleton. Within seconds of kick off Stapleton took the lead with a firm right foot shoot from Ciao Gilltour that slipped through Athletic keeper Chris Priddy's hands. The dejected keeper was soon smiling though as his Side began to play some neat passing football that resulted with the equaliser from Isaac Kahar who chased a ball over the top and lobbed the approaching keeper after just 6 minutes . Stapleton did mount some resistance but the midfield duo of Augustine Bangura and Steve Moss broke up the play. Both Athletic wingers were busy with Adiel Arshad battling hard on the right. Then after 17 minutes Athletic won a throw in midway into the Stapleton half, taken by Ryan Jones, he found Adao Dante Hart who turned towards goal, flicked the ball over the defender and then volleyed the ball home from close range. Stapleton did have some possession in the first half with their scorer ruled narrowly offside after hitting the net on 30 minutes. After continued pressure Athletic winger Ryan Jones was crudely taken down in the box after displaying Ronaldinho style skills and duly converted the penalty on 41 minutes to put the match at 3-1 at half time.
The second half saw Isaac Kahar make way for Kieran Sargent who made an impact after only ten minutes on the pitch converting an Omar James clearance to put the home side 4-1 up. From then on, Athletic had the majority of possession with Adao Dante Hart netting his second on 62 minutes from a quality Yomi Opokiti through ball. (5-1) A further raid on 71 minutes saw Adao Dante Hart the provider who passed neatly to Ryan Jones who converted brilliantly with a rifled shot that curled into the top corner. (6-1) Arguably the best goal of the game though came in the 79th Minute when a cross from Ryan Jones was superbly laid off by Kieran Sargent to Adao Hart who drilled the ball home spectacularly from 25 yards to make it 7-1 and Adao's hatrick. Further goals came from Omar James, Yomi Opokiti and substitute Michael Nguyen put the score into double figures.
Excellent performances from defender Parabhdiyal Singh and Jordan Dowe made a memorable day for Athletic whose Manager Andre Hart said " We kept playing, kept our discipline and won the match the right way, I'm proud of our lads"
Athletic now go to the top of the combination with 10 points from 4 games.
Man of the match Ryan Jones.
