Bristol U18 & U21 Football Combination League
2011-2012 Season

Bristol Division 1

Bradley Stoke  1    Bristol Telephones  8

Sunday, 25 September 2011

Both teams started this match full of energy, skill and determination. There was pressure from both teams, who played the pitch well and creating chances. Bradley Stoke drew ‘first blood’ when a well taken free kick by Craig Jenkins put the Bristol Telephones defence under pressure and an unfortunate defender headed into his own goal. From the restart Bradley Stoke started sitting back that allowed Bristol Telephones more time on the ball and to score. They didn’t do themselves any favours by not defending with enough vigour and Bristol Telephones scored 5 goals in the space of 17 minutes, with the Bradley Stoke Team seemingly lacklustre and jaded.
The half time whistle was a welcome for the Bradley Stoke team.
Both teams came out strong and determined, with Bradley Stoke re vitalised. It was end to end action with both defences and keepers being kept busy. Telephones had plenty of shots but they had no direction to them. Bradley Stoke saw a lot more of the ball and both teams played in the correct spirit, with Bradley Stoke being unlucky not to score more in reply. Bradley Stoke were piling on the pressure which made Telephones work hard for each other and with each attack it was inevitable that Telephones would ‘break away’ and score, which they did on 3 occasions in the second half.
