Lakeside played hosts to top of the table Swindon Village, with Lakeside lying in second place. Lakeside started the brighter but the first real chance of the game fell to Swindon Village which saw keeper Rob Jones pull off a good save by pushing the ball round the post. Rob was called into action again in the 12th minute by pulling off a great fingertip save. The League leaders finally took a lead in the 26th minute after a fine Swindon Village move saw Ryan Caddock on hand to score from close range. Lakeside were unlucky not to get on level terms after fine work from Kurt Burrows saw Luke Robson's effort smash against the post. But Lakeside's pressure soon told when a cross from Kurt Burrows was met by Ace Pulham who fired home a volley to make it 1-1. Lakeside should have gone into the break with their noses in front after seeing Luke Robson again hitting the woodwork as the ball smashed against the crossbar. Both teams were playing excellent football on a sticky pitch. Lakeside took the lead after the interval when Luke Robson was fouled and the resulting free kick from Kurt Burrows was headed in from close range by Sam James to put Lakeside in front in the 55th minute. Swindon Village pressed for an equaliser and Rob Jones, in a one on one situation, blocked the Swindon Village striker only to find that the striker had been ruled offside. Lakeside's back four being led by Josh Pugh were in outstanding form and with the hardworking pair of Scott Gourley and Nathen Cross managed to deal with any attacks the away side had, despite heavy pressure in the final ten minutes.
