Southside  6    Brockworth Albion Youth  1

Sunday, 29 January 2012

Brockworth Albion were playing Southside for the third time this season and the game started lively enough with both teams having chances. The game was end to end but it was Southside who broke the deadlock after twenty five minutes from a mistake by Albion’s keeper. Ten minutes later Southside found the back of the net with a fine strike from outside the box. Albion battled on but it was Southside who scored again with another fine shot.
Half time: Southside 3-0 Brockworth
Albion started the second half better and was rewarded with a free kick outside the box, Kyle Bakewell’s shot going just wide. Ten minutes later, from a great through ball from defender Mitch Agg, leading scorer Kyle Bakewell chipped the Southside’s goalie to score. This woke up Southside who went on to score their fourth. Albion began passing the ball and Bakewell took the ball down the right and centred for Jacob Shakespeare to have a shot which was saved. Southside attacked again and only a brilliant diving save by Tristan Bishop-McRobert stopped Southside scoring again. But it was not enough and from a cross Southside scored with a header. Another attack from Albion, this time Jo Gudgeon-Osterritter went down the right and crossed to Bakewell’s whose header went wide. Albion began to wilt and Southside scored again after Albion’s defenders just stood and looked at the ball while Southside kicked it into the goal. Albion staged one more attack with some good interplay and were rewarded a corner with Bakewell’s shot saved. With seconds to go Jo Gudgeon-Osterritter had a great shot at goal but went just wide.
Full time: Southside 6-1 Brockworth
