Bristol U18 & U21 Football Combination League
2011-2012 Season

League Plate
Preliminary Round

Brockworth Albion Youth  2    DRG Stapleton  3

Sunday, 22 January 2012

Brockworth entertained DRG Stapleton from Bristol in the League Plate today. Both teams started lively with end to end play. It was Albion who took the lead however with a well taken shot from outside the box by captain Kyle Bakewell. Albion was having the better of the play and twice within minutes Jacob Shakespeare had shots on goal, both going wide. For once Albion was having a good run and Dave Hartland had a shot saved by DRG’s goalie, and another shot by Shakespeare went wide. Albion were beginning to enjoy themselves and from a good through ball Bakewell added a second. Any attacks from DRG were well thwarted by Albion’s defence with Mitch Agg having another good game.
Half time: Brockworth 2-0 DRG Stapleton
Within minutes of the restart DRG scored. Albion once again went to sleep and goalie Tristan Bishop-McRobert had to start earning his keep with some fine saves. Albion were beginning to struggle and on a rare attack James Trigg’s shot went wide. After thirty five minutes DRG equalised from some sloppy defensive work by Albion and then five minutes later scored their winner. Albion only had themselves to blame for going out of the Cup.
Full time: Brockworth 2-3 DRG Stapleton
