Blackstones  0    Deeping Rangers  3

Monday, 24 March 2008

Blackstones' title bid was all but ended by Deeping as the reigning champions inflicted only a second home reverse of the season on Stones.

The home side had an escape after 14 minutes when a penalty was awarded for handball, but Michael Stevenson's kick was saved by home keeper Richard Stainsby.

Defender Dave Cornell was the unlikely Rangers matchwinner. He opened the scoring on the hour, heading in a David Cobb  free kick and doubled Rangers' lead seven minutes later when he pounced to score after Stainsby had saved Lee Ellison's header from a free kick.

Mark Baines sealed Deeping's success with a close range strike thirteen minutes from time after Cobb and Andy Ellis combined.
