Raunds Town  1    Stotfold  1

Tuesday, 27 September 2005

A late Stotfold equaliser denied the Shopmates the win which would have taken them to the head of the Premier Division table. A close contest saw plenty of good openings created. Matt Curtis and Jed Ainge went close for Raunds before home keeper Michael Freeman saved well from Gareth Cottenden's 25 yard free kick. The woodwork denied both Stotfold player manager Jim Benton and the home side's Ainge and the contest remained goalless until the 80th minute when Carl Tallents fired Raunds in front with a 20 yard free kick, but the Eagles equalised four minutes from time through Ady Bascombe who converted a cross from the right from Jason Thomas.

Raunds: Michael Freeman, Ian Burt (Matt Harris), Gavin Fitzgerald, Nick Ashby, Simon McCarthy, Richard Bailey, Jed Ainge, Adam Hancock, Richard Tanner, Matt Curtis, Carl Tallents.
Stotfold: Nigel Blowers, Richard Beckett, Dean Chapman, Ryan Frater, Jason Thomas, Joe Philbin (Dean Whittaker), Jim Benton, Gareth Cottenden (Michael Gonlague), Jason Blackett, Ady Bascombe, Wayne Mills.
Attendance: 45.
