Saturday, 10 September 2005

Newport's second victory in four days lifted them into the top five of the Premier table, but they left it late to claim all three points. Vinny Shrieves broke the deadlock two minutes into stoppage time, scoring his fifth goal of the week to win the contest for the Swans. Shrives slotted home after good work by Michael Lyon and substitute Elliott O'Reilly. Blackstones were left to rue plenty of possession but a lack of a cutting edge, their best effort a free kick from substitute Dean Foley.
