Buckingham Town  3    Newport Pagnell Town  4

Wednesday, 07 September 2005

Morell Maison has never seen his Buckingham side get the better of the Swans in league action and his wait goes on thanks to the sharpshooting of four goal Vinny Shrieves who ensured his father, Newport boss Terry, enjoyed a winning return to Ford Meadow where he starred for Buckingham two decades ago.

Shrieves fired the Swans into a tenth minute lead after latching on to a Tom Hill through pass and he added a second seven minutes later, firing home at the near post after a good run and cross by Michael Lyon. Buckingham rallied, and Michael McKenzie, who switched from Newport at the weekend, reduced the arrears after 25 minutes. Shrieves sealed Newport's success with further goals after 67 and 82 minutes, his hat trick goal following good work by Martin Kelly and Hill and his fourth a lob over stranded keeper Will Gourlay from 25 yards. The Robins produced a fightback which almost earned a share of the spoils. Jonathan Barnett scored a second for Buckingham after 84 minutes with McKenzie's second four minutes later setting up a grandstand finish which saw the woodwork deny the Robins an equaliser.
